Happy Birthday Dear Alice .....

Have you ever seen the movie Something's Gotta Give?  My favourite scene in the movie, and there are many, is the final scene. Jack Nicholson walks into the restaurant with his new family. He's so incredibly, puffed-out-chest proud, it's palpable. Well, that was my brother James last night. His youngest, Alice, turned 21. An amazing right of passage which we were all delighted to share.  Our families have been blessed with three girls, all just two years apart, Jessica, Megan and Alice respectively, and in some ways it's sad that this is the last 21st celebration but, I'm sure, there will be many more to come, marriages, births, new jobs, new homes, Christmases, Birthdays, and you can bet the numbers around the table will grow and no matter what, we will all be there, sharing the joy. Alice's choice for the family element of her many parties, Carluccio's Italian restaurant. There was love, chatter, laughter, singing, toasts to the birthday girl, the clink of glasses and a kick ass cake.

Happy Birthday Darling Alice!

    1. Hi Mary,
I know, I would like the body of a 21 year old, but not the mind or the lifestyle - does that make sense :-)
Thank you so much, you make my day!

  8. Good morning DI! I cannot get over how Alice resembles Meg! What a beautiful evening you have captured, AGAIN, with your magic camera. That cake is just a delight to behold, and I can imagine the laughter. I wrote a poem a while back about the phenomenon of family and how the concentric circles of lives just keep appearing and fading, with each generation, like a ripple effect on a pond.

May every circle of the ripple effect in your family be strong and BEAUTIFUL! LOVE, Anita

      They do look alike indeed!
It was special times, we will talk about it for years to come. I love blogger for this reason, an online diary that can be looked back on by family and friends, a legacy!
Thank you so much for your, always, kind words.
      I am blessed.

  9. Your dinners are always so exceptional and your photos always make me wish I were there. I can't believe the family resemblance between Alice and Megan. More like sisters than cousins. That cake is brilliant! (And, Alice is my one of favorite names. Jerry's mother was named Alice — the most amazing woman I've ever known.) Happy 21st to Alice!
