We didn't get very far. Security is fierce and all rivers and roads approaching the Stadium are closed to traffic. We were stopped by our friendly Cardiff Bay Harbour Patrol who were ready to give chase if we decided to full throttle and do a James Bond manoeuvre up the river. Cardiff will host several football events during the games, hosting both women's and men's teams including Brazil, Mexico and Spain. The city is resplendent in Olympics spirit.
For us, we can't wait until the opening ceremony on Friday and we will both be glued to a TV screen for the next two weeks. We both love the Olympic spirit and watching the world come together to play. We shall also be praying to the weather gods for more of the same blue skies we have been enjoying over the past few days. Enjoy!

Hello Dianne:
ReplyDeleteYour post really does catch the excitement of the Olympics build up. Cardiff really has put its best foot forward!!! Enjoy, enjoy!
We surely will enjoy it! It is one our favourite events to witness every 4 years!

Hi Di!
ReplyDeleteI would like to have seen photos of you ad John and Snokie doing a few JAmes Bond tricks.

Hope you have a fabulous day!

I didn't know that. When the Olympics were here in 2002 I worked for the catering company that fed NBC at I was involved in early prep stuff because the press is there earlier than the public knows. It was a great adventure. I felt like I was a summer camp but in the winter for about a month! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Renae,
DeleteThat's a once in a lifetime experience by the sound of it. Lucky girl!

Good morning, beautiful !!! It is so good to see you post again, and to see SOOKIE looking on in wonder. What a beautiful life you lead, on the water. I too am looking forward to enjoying the Olympic games from our large TV, but I do hope to get in more creativity during these last several weeks before school starts up. Though I will be returning as a substitute, I don't want to let go of the summer. But the games will be a finale that all the world can enjoy, and I do hope they will be cherished in SAFETY!
ReplyDeleteBE WELL MY DEAR! Anita
Hi Anita,
DeleteAlways a joy to see you. We are indeed lucky with our lifestyle, especially when the sun shines. I can't wait to see what your creativity delivers!

Di,
ReplyDeleteHello my dear! You should be proud my friend! The opening ceremony was FABULOUS!!!!!! I loved every second, the history, the symbolisim, the fact that ordinary people who helped build and make the Olympics possible were included! Cannot say enough about it. I hope you enjoy all of the parties! Wish I was there.
Have a great day, Elizabeth xoxox
How wonderful that you are there! Don't you love it?! Is it common for Olympic Games to start early? Looks like a beautiful day :)
ReplyDeleteWe are glued too, Di. With one very athletic women's college soccer player at home who has played throughout her life, and two guys (husband and son) who are crazy sports fans, I have no choice but to join in. :) I love it too. ;)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy. I was away for the weekend but will watch the recorded opening today.
Yes, let's have tea. ;)
Hugs,
Marcia
Dianne, over in sunny California I was watching the rain come down on the women's cycling event. Congrats on the young Armitstead!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for visiting my site! I love a little UK perspective!
Looks like a lovely day.
ReplyDeletePity the Olympics spoiled it.
