Milestones ....

The past weekend marked a couple of significant events, both reminders of how old I am!  I am of the generation where daughters and sons of close friends and family are getting married.  This was the first wedding of many I am sure, when our close friend Carol's daughter, Kate, married her school sweetheart Liam.  I was holed up with the lurgi, and so John and Meg went along to represent the family.  "Take some good pictures for me John, capture the atmosphere" were my last words mingled with coughs and splutters as he walked out the door.  This is what I got ....

If you look really closely with a magnifying glass, you can just about make out the bride there on the right.  This gives strength to the old adage "if you want something done, then do it yourself"!

The second milestone was our very own baby's 21st birthday on Saturday.  Her wonderful parents, long suffering, generous, forgiving and ever loving (well, if I don't say it nobody will) splashed out on this little baby for her ....

If that wasn't generous enough, we then took her for lunch at the Laguna Kitchen and Bar at the Park Plaza Hotel in Cardiff....

Great food, great atmosphere and one of our favourite regular haunts complete with a couple of delicious apple Martinis and Mojitos.  I know, I hear you "she's spoiled rotten".  Well, as a good friend of mine pointed out "she's not spoilt, she's well loved"!

Then off to the downtown party hotel we booked for herself and her friends for the night (there was no way we were going to entertain them at, probably, 5am) and a change of look ready for the meat markets, better known as Cardiff nightclubs.

How quickly they grow! I just wish I had felt better, it's some more cough medicine and bed for me as I have to be fighting fit for next week's GRADUATION!!!

Why is it colds seem so much worse in the summer? Yuck!
I remember you were having a little love affair with a tiny car not so long ago, a Fiat 500 if I remember!

OK, you are splendid. Look at you with your fabulous DAUGHTER! Where oh where my dear, does time fly? She is so gorgeous without makeup, but with the works, she is top model quality!!!! LOVE THE LITTLE CAR, your outing and that you had a wonderful time. I wish you speedy recovery! We are having a very intense heat wave today but we are still plugging away using a STEAMER to peel off old wallpaper and paint from my studio. It is hard work!

    LOVE! Anita

    1. Hi Anita,
It was a good weekend, I just wish I had felt a little more "on form".
She does scrub up fairly well. She deserved the car and it's a joint birthday/graduation prize. We only had the one, we may as well cherish her. She's a great kid, always brought nothing but joy! Thanks for your well wishes, I'm at the coughing so hard and peeing a little bit stage and looking incredibly attractive at this point. My poor long suffering husband :-)
Have a great week dear friend.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,
Yes, I know, I have been a little AWOL lately. Meg moved out of her house last week and we were ferrying her belongings to storage before she moves into her new apt on 12 July. She's back with us in the interim. It's been a bit crazy and then on Thursday I started feeling bleuh!!! I have been in bed ever since except the couple of hours we were out on Saturday. I have taken so many cold remedies, I'm close to overdose, nothing works, I don't know why we waste our money! Whisky, that might do it :-)

I have been thinking of you a lot lately and so relieved at your good news. I will email you one of these days, when I turn my computer on, I tend to be on my pad more often and it's a pain to write a long email on it.
      Take care sweet girl!

    1. Irina,
Everyone is so lovely about Meg. I am of course biased, I think she's gorgeous but for everyone else to say it is wonderful. She doesn't believe it, never has, so it's good affirmation to hear it from others. She had a wonderful birthday and then we have her graduation on the 12th so it's been a significant couple of weeks in her life.

Have a wonderful week dear friend.

  8. Ah, honey! Meg looks radiant! And those photos the husband took of the happy couple are hi-larious. Do it yourself, indeed.

Feel better, dear Di. (For congestion, I recommend tea tree and eucalyptus oils in the humidifier. Just a few drops.)

    1. Hello Dawne,
It was a horrible one! The last thing we need on a boat is a humidifier. We actually have a dehumidifier on every day for about 4 hours. You are a sweetheart. You made me laugh "tennis shoe". It actually does look like one!

Tell your daughter that she looks beautiful in these pictures. I wear alot of eye make-up too, and her eyes are so exotic looking. Happy Birthday to her.

Your daughter looks lovely, I hope she had a great time. BTW, good idea about not attending the party. Last time I tried it, m'son had to get me a taxi home as I fell asleep at the bar.

His photos were almost worse than no photos, but, love him, he tried!

If I had any booze over that weekend I would have needed more than a taxi home. Mixing booze with Benylin and Paracetamol doesn't go down too well!

I am only just on the mend now - bloody summer colds :-(
